Procam Take 2 and EIFF are delighted to announce the winner of the Short Film Pitch competition as IN HER CORNER from Emma Ramsay (Director), Reece Cargan (Co-Producer), and Laura McBride (Co-Producer).
Shooting later this year, the team will benefit from a £5,000 equipment rental voucher to use at Procam Take 2's branches in Scotland. With an extensive equipment inventory, the prize can be used to hire cameras, lenses, lighting, monitors, grip, and audio equipment.
In addition to providing the prize for the Short Film Pitch, Procam Take 2 are also supporting EIFF Youth and EIFF Industry activity starting this year.
"Filmmaking is always a compromise between budget and vision. This prize will help us to elevate our ambitious film through production design, costume and music, now that we have access to the phenomenal PROCAM TAKE 2 equipment without breaking the bank. I'm beyond excited to share our film and, as a bunch of scallywags from Edinburgh, support from our home city festival feels pretty special. Thank you to EIFF and PROCAM TAKE 2 for supporting new talent, this is blooming GREAT." - Emma Ramsay, Director
"It’s been wonderful to work with Procam Take 2 across the EIFF 2021 Industry and Education activity. The standard of applications was extremely high for this competition and we’re delighted to be awarding the IN HER CORNER team with this support to ensure the production of their exciting new short film." - Holly Daniel, EIFF Producer
“We were amazed at the diverse range of short film pitches we received and the thought process behind the stories. The calibre of the applications made it very difficult for the whole panel as we judged them each on their own merits. As a DOP, I found it particularly challenging as we got to the later stages of judging as I was not only focused on the story, but how I visualised it being filmed. The winning short stood out to us all, and I really wish I was lighting it. We are excited to see how each one of these films develop and hope to return in 2022 to judge some more fantastic pitches.”- Saul Gittens, Cinematographer and Head of Training and Development at Procam Take 2
