On January 27th, Procam Take 2 partnered with Garden Studios to provide equipment and support for an open day with ScreenSkills as part of their Making Virtual Production Real season: a series of webinars and open days to introduce screen industry professionals to the creative opportunities of virtual production.
Supporting the next generation of talent, the day saw students and those with relevant entry level skills and knowledge visit Garden Studios, London, for a tour of the campus and a virtual production demo. Four two-hour sessions were held across the day with Garden Studios’ speakers Mark Pilborough-Skinner (Virtual Production Supervisor), Sam Kemp (Virtual Production Technician) and Procam Take 2’s Saul Gittens (Head of Training and Development and in-house DOP) covering the software and hardware involved in the VP process, from Unreal Engine to the Mo-Sys Startracker, and discussing cinematography requirements and the necessary adaptations to production workflows.
Each talk concluded with a Q&A before participants were given the opportunity to get hands-on with the technology – filming with Procam Take 2’s Red Ranger Monstro 8k VV and TLS Vega Primes - and to shoot a scene on the VP stage.
