Lighting Technician London

Job Title:  Lighting Technician

Reports to: Lighting Department Coordinator

Scope of the job: This is a permanent warehouse-based role working in a storage environment. There is an even mix of administrative and physical work, you must be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision, and have a positive and flexible approach to problem solving.

The role requires a hands-on approach, ability to work as part of team, willingness to learn new skills and work in all technical disciplines, attention to detail and keeping of accurate records.

The role is within a busy equipment hire business, efficient time management with ability to work to strict deadlines remaining calm when in stressful and under pressure situations, willingness to work unsociable and irregular hours and to be a confident decision maker, supporting Lighting Department Coordinator and Line Manager.

Always maintaining a safe working environment; ensure that the department's daily objectives/ targets / tasks are met.

Dealing, participating and helping with daily operation, deadlines, maintenance, spot checks, storage, check of lighting systems, equipment, pat test, able to help and deal with department technical queries, demonstratable excellence in customer service, ability to build relationships with suppliers (internal/external), producing daily reports / handovers to lighting department coordinator and warehouse managers

You will work closely with management and other members of the company to support the progress, creative, vision of the production / operation

Responsibilities:

As a lighting technician, you'll typically need to:

  • Maintain accuracy on check in process PC Vs PDA, aim to minimize daily queries
  • Maintaining databases / stock inventories updated
  • Testing / Quality check / Pat testing /OOS /Review damage priorities
  • Cleanliness / Presentation / Storage / Labels visibility and information - replacement
  • Maintain barcodes visible, clear information, organize replacement
  • Maintain check-in area, keeping it organised and clear all the time
  • Monitoring the OOS log to be aware of items marked as missing, damaged, or out of service which may not have been flagged already.
  • Dealing with the oldest and high priority items to check in
  • Report OOS problems to the coordinator/or Service Department
  • Be involved in missing & damaged items daily search / investigations
  • Problem solving / solutions / improvements
  • Dealing and review early / late shift handovers
  • Cover turnarounds on early / late shifts when necessary and with short notice

What to expect:

  • Housekeeping – keep lighting department clean all the time and ensuring good housekeeping within the department.
  • Follow Health and Safety policies, minimize hazards in all lighting department area, review, update display information, replace, when necessary, safety tapes, shelves maintenance, illumination
  • Responsible for the ‘safe’ provision and operation of lighting equipment
  • Assist and help the Lighting Department Coordinator
  • Assist with minor repairs, as and when is required, and requested
  • Team working on tasks with team members from same and other departments
  • Build and maintain active working relationships with other departments, clients, suppliers
  • Flexible approach to working hours, early, day and late shift / weekends / overtime
  • Demonstrable strong planning/organisational skills
  • Verify daily To-Do Tick Board
  • Maintain organisation of shelves, storage, and stock movement
  • Randomly stock count on weekly basis – spare parts & others, when requested
  • Deal with orders / deliveries/ suppliers / engineering /PO’s - when necessary
  • Review with Coordinator on daily bases overlaps and shortages
  • Deal with PAT test out of date kit or items
  • Dealing with technical queries
  • Demonstrable excellence in customer service
  • Flagging bookings queries (phone/email) answering bookings / client’s questions over the phone, raising issues to management if outside of skillset

Your performance will be reviewed at your 3 month probation review and at your yearly appraisal; there may be ad hoc meetings throughout the year to discuss any issues. This job description will be reviewed periodically and may change to suit the needs of the business.
